Overview
The Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS) is seeking a Data Analyst 1 to work in the Retirement Automation Bureau.

What You’ll Do
- Gather, review, and analyze financial, demographic, business process, and performance data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
- Use data analytics and data visualization tools to help identify and correct data abnormalities, answer specific data-related questions, and assist management in making informed decisions.
- Serve as a data specialist for IPERS Pension Administration System (PAS) projects, upgrades, reports, and defect resolutions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of PAS data structure and tables to ensure accurate data results.
- Utilize data tools such as Excel, SQL, and other business intelligence software.
- Actively participate in meetings and other collaborative engagements with peers and key contributors within IPERS and with IPERS vendor partners.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
Applicants must provide an unofficial transcript for verification
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business analytics, economics, data science, statistics, mathematics, management information systems, or industrial management.
- All of the following:
- A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience in business/data/statistical analytics, economic research, or data science, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
- Possession of a professional certificate in data science, business analytics, or data analytics. Please attach a copy of the certification to your NeoGov application.
- All of the following:
- A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience in business/data/statistical analytics, economic research, or data science, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience; and
- A total of one year of graduate-level education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where twenty-four semester hours of accredited graduate college or university coursework in business analytics, economics, data science, statistics, mathematics, management information systems, or industrial management equals one year of full-time experience.
