Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II, the Staff Services Manager I manages and is responsible for supervising the quality and quantity of the products of subordinate analytical and technical staff of the Training, Outreach, and Publications Unit of the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC). The incumbent provides consultative and technical support to DWC through outreach events, annual conferences, trainings, publications, and DWC's website.

This is a bilingual-Spanish position. The incumbent must be able to pass a bilingual-Spanish fluency examination.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month. Working Conditions This position is located at:

1515 Clay Street, 17th floor Oakland, CA 94612

The incumbent will work in a cubicle with natural and artificial lighting in an air-conditioned office building with elevator access. The incumbent is required to work extensively on the computer as necessary for email communication, research, working on audits, and other purposes.

Special Requirements

The position(s) require(s) fluency in the Spanish language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired. Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business or related fields. Minimum two (2) years' experience conducting community outreach and grassroots marketing activities. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff at all levels both within and outside of DIR to complete work assignments related to developing policies and procedures. The incumbent must exercise the ability to independently make decisions and perform actions having broad implications on various aspects of DIR's personnel processes. In addition, the incumbent must demonstrate the ability to use Internet, email, desktop applications and presentation software to complete assignments.
