POSITION SUMMARY The Port Engineer is responsible for effectively meeting the technical goals of the company, ensuring the vessels are technically fit to operate, preventative maintenance is attended to, critical spares are maintained and operational, and downtime is minimized. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop, manage, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance schedules. Coordinate with shipyard, contractors, and vendors for repairs and dry-docking. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Ensure vessels are in optimal condition to meet operational schedules and mission requirements. Liaise with vessel chief engineers to address technical needs during missions and port calls. Conduct routine inspections to verify that vessels meet company and client standards. Develop and manage annual budgets for vessel maintenance and repairs. Monitor and control technical operation costs, ensuring cost-effective solutions. Maintain accurate records of spare parts and equipment inventory. Manage class inspections, surveys, and certifications to maintain compliance. Keep up to date with regulatory changes impacting vessel operations. Manage relationships with shipyards, repair facilities, and parts suppliers. Review and approve contractor scopes of work, bids, and invoices. Coordinate logistics for on-site contractors during maintenance or repair projects. Collaborate with vessel chief engineers to plan and conduct crew training on technical systems and safety protocols. Liaise with the HR department to ensure technical crew members are qualified and certified according to industry standards. Provide technical advice and support to Vessel managers, the chief engineer, and the crew during emergencies or technical breakdowns. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to analyze problems via communication while a vessel is at sea or in a remote location. Good communication and interpersonal skills; capable of maintaining strong relationships both with the team and customers. Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Must be a well-organized, detail-oriented, customer (internal and external) oriented, self-starter, self-motivated, prioritize duties, and follow through with tasks to completion as necessary. Working knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD, and Adobe DC.

EDUCATION AND/OR REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED Certificate is required. A BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of sailing experience in an engineering role is required. A valid USCG engineer's license or Designated Duty Engineer (DDE) license is preferred. Should be able to lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds. There will be local and international travel (including air travel) up to 50% of the time, with or without notice. The individual will be required to be in production areas in the Shipyards and on board ships. Must be able to walk to and from job sites. The person must be able to climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders, enter confined areas and tanks, and work at heights. Must possess a valid Driver's License, Passport, and be able to receive a TWIC. Willing to relocate to Washington State.
