Job Summary
Under general direction of the CAO, the Program Coordinator will provide a broad range of administrative support for faculty, staff, and students in the areas of general administration, business office, research, outreach, events, and instructional support activities of the Middle East/South Asia Studies Program, in consultation with the ME/SA Director and the CAO of the Green Cluster. Oversee the budgeting and administration of operating, donor, and grant-derived funding, and provide high-level account management and financial support to ME/SA. Provide policy interpretation of financial and personnel regulations and of university policies and procedures. Organize and oversee all events and assist with outreach. Responsible for event planning, including scheduling travel arrangements and honorarium payments for guest speakers, catering, and advertising. Provide instructional support for course instructors. Supervise student assistants and interns. Serve as primary point of contact for ME/SA and provide back-up support to Anthropology and Sociology.(This is not a remote position, but a hybrid schedule will be possible.)

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position Experience researching, interpreting, communicating, and enforcing complex policies and procedures. Experience collaborating with diverse groups across campus to support operations Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact and communicate with Middle East/South Asia faculty, staff, students, and community. Knowledge of university policies and procedures relating to purchasing, travel, entertainment, account processing, and business management practices Skills, knowledge, and ability to independently set priorities in workload, self-direct tasks, make independent decisions and rely on own judgment. Ability to work with little supervision or direction. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing day-to-day program management of an academic unit Experience in expense reconciliation and accounting practices Experience with UCD campus financial systems Knowledge of working in an academic department Analytical skills to identify, research and resolve accounting and payroll issues; to analyze reports and reconcile accounts and records Knowledge of the Middle East/South Asia communities

Department Overview The Social Sciences Green" Cluster is comprised of the Department of Anthropology, Department of Sociology, and the Program in Middle East/South Asia Studies (ME/SA). The Middle East/South Asia Program offers a major and minor in regional studies through critical, comparative, historical and sociological analyses of global interconnections of people, products, ideas and processes. The ME/SA Program is also dedicated to community outreach through conferences, programs and fund-raising events."
