Software Engineer – Command & Control (Active TS/SCI Required)

Clearance: TS/SCI (active or used in the past 2 years)

Permanent / Full-time

A leading-edge space company is growing its Command & Control (C2) team to support the increasing needs of government and commercial missions. This role blends mission-driven engineering with deep security integration, contributing to a platform that manages large satellite constellations and secure mission environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain software that enables command and control of satellite systems
  • Build scalable, secure infrastructure that integrates with both commercial and classified missions
  • Collaborate across platform, mission ops, and security teams to evolve the core C2 product
  • Work at the intersection of ground systems and satellite integration (non-embedded role)

Tech Stack & Focus Areas

  • Languages: Python (primary), Rust, C, C++ for performance-sensitive functions
  • Security & Encryption: Understanding of modern encryption protocols
  • Experience integrating or working with algorithms such as AES-256 (GCM, CFB, ECB)
  • Exposure to NSA Type 1 systems (e.g., PEGASUS, CARIBOU) is highly preferred
  • Protocols: CCSDS, CFDP, CSP, XTCE, MIB (desirable, not mandatory)
  • Infrastructure: Kubernetes, GitHub, relational and time-series databases, DevSecOps best practices

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of encryption systems used in secure mission environments
  • Interest in the space sector and solving complex, high-stakes engineering challenges
  • Ability to work autonomously within agile, startup-style teams
  • Hybrid (2 days onsite per week) – flexibility in one of four major US locations
