Position Overview The Basic Education for Adults Intern is responsible for assigned duties as outlined in a contract developed with the intern, associate dean of BEdA, and the chair of their program of study. This position will report to the associate dean of BEdA.
Essential Functions
Complete tasks in alignment with the intern's academic and career goals within the scope of the BEdA department and partner departments within the college as applicable and appropriate. This may include data entry, student outreach, supporting students at the front desk, collaborating or shadowing navigators, the data specialist, or associate dean, and working directly with Adult Basic Education or English Language Acquisition students with developing English skills in various capacities. Specific tasks may also be assigned by the BEdA Program Specialist, navigators, data specialist, or associate dean. The specific duties will be determined and outlined in the internship contract developed with the intern and the associate dean.
Qualifications
Duties of the position required experience:
High school graduate, GED, or equivalent Required conditions of employment:
Successful completion of a criminal history background check. Must be a current TCC student. Duties of the position require knowledge, skills and abilities: Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills A commitment to serving diverse student populations including English language learners Openness to learning and following new skills, processes, procedures, and systems Skilled ability to follow written and oral directions Fluency with Microsoft Outlook and Word

These part-time student hourly positions are bound by the WAC 357-04-045 provisions above. Scheduled to work up 16 hours per week and on a quarter-by-quarter basis.
The work location is the TCC main campus. The salary is $20.00-$20.00 per hour. TCC Part-time hourly and student employees including work study students, will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Hourly non-student employees may be applicable for comprehensive health care benefits package for you and your dependents includes medical, dental and vision insurance. Life and long- term disability insurance plans and retirement benefits are also provided.
