We are looking for an experienced Tool and DIe Maker to join our team. The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for building jigs, fixtures, and dies and oversees the machining of all parts through the machining process leading up to assembly and try out of the tool. The Tool and Die Maker is capable of overseeing projects at an advanced level. This position considered a leader in the plant and is responsible for guiding entry and intermediate level Tool and Die Makers. Only the very best Machinists are classified in this role. Will be actively involved in continuous improvement teams within the area to promote safety, quality, throughout and the addition of any new equipment. The ideal candidate is an organized, analytical, problem-solver with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks to ensure that daily operations are running effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Reads advanced assembly drawings and determines priorities.
Receives all materials and determines the best process to complete the work.
Grinds all parts to specification for fit up.
Assembles all components.
Aligns sections for clearances.
Dowels all components in place.
Tries out tool onsite or at user*s facility.
Involved with continuous improvement efforts.
Trains and coordinates lower level tool and die.
Works with Engineers and Operations Manager to determine machining.
Other duties as assigned.
Desired Experience
Project management skills - ability to oversee entire projects
Ability to grind components to tight tolerances
Blueprint reading skills
Understand sequence of machining operations and speed and feed ratios
Can read micrometers, verniers, and dial indicators
Understand heat treat impact on steels
Basic math and trigonometry skills
Ability to train, coordinate, communicate effectively with all departments
Safety conscious of self and others
Understanding of metallurgy
5 or more years tool and die experience
Machine shop training
Machine tool operation training
Lockout/tagout, fall protection, PPE, confined spaced training
WI basic safety training
Complete knowledge of standard operating procedure manual
