Position Summary

Assist the head men's & women's bowling coach in coaching and leadership aspects of a model bowling program as they relate to academic commitment, supervision of staff and personnel, practice organization and instruction, match preparation and recruitment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Demonstrate respect for the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university.

Demonstrate the ability to relate effectively to student-athletes, coaches, staff, administration and the University community.

Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement.

Assumption of coaching responsibilities related to the sport of bowling.

Provision of assistance in certain administrative responsibilities related to the sport of bowling.

Provision of assistance in monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.

Provision of assistance in the enforcement of team rules.

Provision of assistance in the planning, development and conducting of all in-season and off-season practices and conditioning sessions.

Provision of assistance in the instruction of staff.

Ensure that proper safety guidelines and standards are maintained.

Coordinate certain strategy related to the sport of bowling.

Responsible for certain aspects of recruitment in accordance with university, USBC and NAIA rules.

Understanding and support of all athletic policies and regulations, as well as all philosophies, of the University, United States Bowling Congress and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Understanding and support of the NAIA Champions of Character Coaches Code.

Represent the athletic department and university in a professional manner at various internal and external functions and in working with internal and external constituencies, including but not limited to the media and general public.

Perform other administrative duties within the department as assigned.

Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Three years of bowling experience, either as a player or coach.

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.

Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the University.

Preferred Requirements

Bachelor's degree.

Three years of collegiate bowling coaching experience.

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule

Hours vary, but do include weekends, nights and holidays.

Physical Requirements of Position

Work is performed in both an office setting and at athletic arenas with moderate exposure to varying weather conditions, but minimal health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is sedentary work, which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. Travel is required. Hours of work include some nights, weekends and may include working up to 12 hours a day.
