THE POSITION

Washington County Public Health Division within the Department of Health and Human Services is hiring a

Limited Duration Full-time Public Health Nurse II

to join the

Tuberculosis (TB) team .

About the Opportunity The Public Health Nurse II in the Tuberculosis (TB) team (Working Title: TB Nurse Case Manger) works under the direction of the TB Public Health Nursing Supervisor. The incumbent works in collaboration with contracted Local Health Officer (ORS 431.418), Nursing Supervisor, Senior Program Coordinator, Public Health Nurses, Community Health Workers, and other Public Health branches and County divisions to ensure the Local Public Health Authority (LPHA) (ORS 431.413) provides TB disease and control to Washington County residents. To ensure compliance with Oregon Occupational Safety & Health Division (OR-OSHA) standards and policies and for the safety of all employees, Public Health Division employees adhere to set standards and protocol pertaining to documentation of immunity to specific vaccine-preventable diseases, completion of tuberculosis (TB) screening, respirator fit testing and bloodborne pathogen training upon hire.

The TB Nurse Case Manager plays a critical role in managing tuberculosis through a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including case finding and reporting, assessment, problem identification, care planning, implementation, data analysis, evaluation, and documentation. Their focus is on the individual with suspected or confirmed TB and close contacts to cases as well as the broader impact on families and communities. By coordinating medical, nursing, and social services, the TB Nurse Case Manager works to ensure effective treatment and reduce the spread of TB. Through both direct and indirect interventions, they aim to cure TB disease and protect public health.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, including a combination of remote work, office presence, and field assignments. The schedule will vary based on business needs. While some work may be done remotely, this position may be asked to report to the office or travel to field locations on short notice. Flexibility and reliable transportation are required.

Who we are looking for: The ideal candidate will have experience as a tuberculosis nurse case manager managing multiple and complex patients with active or suspected TB Disease and managing multiple TB contact investigations. If no direct experience in TB, an ideal candidate will have multiple years of experience in clinical nursing case management or clinical experience caring for patients with complex medical needs. Experience in public health and infectious diseases is also desirable. It is also essential that they have the competency to work both collaboratively in a team and independently and be organized, detailed, and efficient.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualifications to be considered:

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of nursing; OR An Associate's Degree or Diploma in nursing, college-level coursework in the social sciences, and additional nursing training within a public health curriculum including completion of a Public Health Nursing Certificate program (or equivalent);

AND

Two (2) years increasingly responsible experience in community or public health nursing or related settings.

Possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Oregon or ability to obtain the license within 30 days of appointment.
