Johnson County Mental Health is hiring a licensed Master's Level Clinician to work in their Children and Family Services Program, providing clinical services to children, ages 4-18, with severe emotional disabilities (SED) and their families. This position will have primary responsibility for providing clinical services to youth, ages 10-17, in the Juvenile Justice System. The schedule requires evening availability.

This position will remain open until filled.

Job Description

Responsibilities of the position include: * Provides individual, family, and group therapy to clients within the juvenile detention center and the Juvenile Justice System. Follows best practice guidelines/standards of care in work with clients. * Conducts initial clinical intakes and assessments for new clients. * Completes required documentation. Develops, monitors, and updates treatment plans. * Conducts hospital and Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility screens for persons at risk of danger to self or others. Develops diversion or discharge plans to ensure safety in the community. * Functions as part of a treatment team by attending regular team meetings at both juvenile detention and JCMHC, providing support to others. * Provides resource referrals. * Provides crisis intervention services and assessments when needed. * Conducts mental health assessments for court as needed. * Completes court ordered Competency Evaluations for youth.

Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other Human Services field and Kansas Behavioral Sciences licensure* at the master's level in the area of focus are required.

May require a KS/MO driver's license, depending on department or agency. *Applicants who meet Kansas licensure requirements may be considered if Kansas licensure is obtained by time of an employment offer and licensure is pending confirmation at the time of employment application.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions.

Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

Preferred Job Requirements: Kansas Behavioral Sciences license at the clinical level and at least one year experience in the treatment of severely emotionally disturbed children and their families is preferred.

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions: All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
