DeRisi Lab - Assistant/Associate Adjunct Professor
Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics is seeking a Scientist for a full-time faculty position. The selected candidate will be appointed at the rank of Assistant or Associate in the Adjunct Professor series depending on qualifications and interests.
Faculty in the Adjunct Professor series are individuals who are predominantly engaged in research or other creative work and who participate in teaching, or individuals who contribute primarily to teaching and have a limited responsibility for research or other create work; these individuals may be professional practitioners of appropriate distinction. This is a 3-year position, during which the individual will assist an interdisciplinary team of clinicians and research scientists at UCSF on a combined clinical and research project related to neurological autoimmune disease. Appointees with titles in this series also engage in University and Public Service consistent with their assignments.
Required Qualifications:
PhD or PhD/MD
At least 18 years of post-graduate academic and/or industrial experience in biomedical sciences.
Strong record of academic productivity (peer reviewed publications).
Must have held one or more positions with at least three or more direct reports.
Must have managed research budget and/or research awards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with genomic technologies, next generation sequencing, single cell sequencing, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, cell biology, and biochemistry.
Immunology expertise
Pharmaceutical industry experience
Experience leading groups of scientists and clinicians toward common goals
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $121,900-$189,500. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
