Related vocational and trade school coursework may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis up to two years. NSQs:

A valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions. Overview This position will be part of a Tennessee State Parks Golf Hospitality series for TDEC.

The TSP Golf Equipment Mechanic primary duties are to repair and provide all required preventive maintenance on all equipment associated with Course Maintenance Department while also controlling expenses. This class differs from that of TSP Golf Course Groundskeeper in that the latter performs less complex functions.

This class differs from that of Greens Superintendent and/or Greenskeeper in that the latter two positions performs more complex functions and trains and leads staff. Responsibilities Repairs and services all golf course maintenance equipment. This includes but is not limited to mowers, vehicles, aerifiers, sprayers, small engines, and handheld tools.

Inspects equipment for operating and safety deficiencies.

Performs emergency repair work, general overhaul, and preventive maintenance on all equipment.

Maintains blades of reel and rotary mowers.

Performs fabrication, welding, troubleshooting and repairs to hydraulic and electrical systems.

Maintains digital and/or physical records of work performed and makes routine reports such as time expended, and materials used for repair and maintenance.

Establishes and maintains safety records and procedures for using equipment.

Maintains inventory of common equipment maintenance and repair parts.

Communicates and reports any needs or problems relating to course equipment to management.

Evaluates equipment in need of repair and generates a quote to determine costs to repair or replace equipment.

Maintains the equipment maintenance and repair budget for a golf course maintenance department.

Performs other tasks as assigned by management. Competencies (KSA's) Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all golf course equipment

Knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems

Working knowledge of and ability to safely operate maintenance tools and motorized equipment

Ability to comprehend and learn tasks associated with golf course maintenance.

Ability to manage ones own time

The ability to read, write and execute basic math skills

Ability to keep accurate records
