: ~ Floating within TG to all ICUs, PCU/CCUs, ED holding ~1-year minimum ICU experience ~ Will take first-time travelers with strong ICU
and
previous float pool experience ~ Patient Types Travelers Expected to Care For: ~ Covid Patients ~ Neuro, Trauma, Medical, Surgical ~ Sepsis, pneumonia, DKA, DTs, Multi-system failure, spinal injuries, pre/post cath patients (radial approach), general surgery patients, respiratory compromise, CHF, COPD, GSW, stabbings, MVA, strokes, TBI, various back surgeries ~ CVICU ~24h - Post-op CABG(10/wk.), Esophagectomy, TAVR (3/wk.), AAA repair, Thoracic and Vascular surgeries, Post arrest ~ Travelers Not Expected to Care for: ~ Fresh CABG/TAVR, EVDs, post TPA, any devices (ECMO, IABP, Impella, hypothermia protocol) ~ Patient Ratios: ~ ICU: 1:2 ~ PCU/ACC/CCU: 1: 4 ~ ER Holding – Same ratio based on patient’s level of care ~ Certifications: ~ ACLS, BLS, NIHSS ~ Skills required: ~ Cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent and bipap management, invasive line management, ostomy, general drains, traches, chest tubes, lumbar drains, IV medication titration. ~ Support on the Unit: ~ Charge Nurse ~ Hospitalist, RT and Intensivist 24/7 ~ Cardiologist on call 24/7 for CVICU & CCU & Cardiac Short Stay ~ Charting System: ~ Epic – Experience
IS REQUIRED ~ Scheduling: ~ Schedule is typically made for 3-weeks at a time, which comes out 7-10 days prior ~ Every other weekend ~ Could work back to back weekends (rare) ~ No self- scheduling, no guarantee of patterned schedule ~ Time off: Manager Approval for more than 5 days. ~ Floating: ~ Neuro/Trauma/Medical/Cardiac ICU ~ CCU (cardiac step down) ~ PCU/ACC ~ ED Holding ~ Med Surg Units ~ Any open surge areas for above units ~ Traveler could float to Allenmore Hospital as needed, around 2.5 miles away. This is not common but is a possibility. Travelers should be notified in advance if they are needed at Allenmore. ~ Orientation: ~1 day general hospital orientation ~1 day of unit orientation (12 hours) on ICU unit ~1 day of 12 hours on like units ~ Traveler Telemetry Competency Required ~ Required to be completed and passed prior to start. SimpliFi Compliance is responsible for grading this exam.
Other notes: Scrubs: Any color, professional Parking: Free within designated areas Must fill out whiteboards, do and document hourly rounding, give bedside report Saline Flushes considered medication. Do not leave at the bedside or in your scrub pocket Do not leave medications in unlocked cart. When wasting medications, two-nurse verification is required. (Narcotics, Benzodiazepine, etc.) Documenting pain before and after giving pain medication (30 minutes for IV, 1 hour for oral Breaks are required
