About This Role
The Department of Clinical Sciences and the Veterinary Health Center, College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University invites applications for a part time clinical, 1-year, renewable appointment as a Small Animal Emergency Clinician (SAEC). Candidates must hold a DVM degree or equivalent. Internship training or three years of experience in small animal practice is preferred. Advanced training in emergency and critical care is valued, but not required. The SAEC will work with house officers, senior students and technical staff caring for small animal patients after hours. Specialty Services will provide consultation and back-up assistance to the SAEC. In addition to clinical care, the SAEC will provide clinical and didactic instruction for senior students on Small Animal Emergency rotation and emergency clinical services. Evening, overnights and week-end duties are a requirement of this position and shared among the SAECs. This position represents a 100% appointment in clinical service and teaching.

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced training in emergency and critical care is preferred.
Completed internship training or three years of experience in small animal practice is preferred.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
