The Metcalfe Lab in the UCSF Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, based at Zuckerberg San Francisco General and Pride Hall is seeking a highly motivated Staff Research Associate to work as part of a research team investigating new tuberculosis (TB) diagnostics and drug-resistance. The SRA will be involved in complementing a
Mycobacterium tuberculosis
knockout mutant to investigate the impact of (~1500) specific mutations on bedaquiline resistance both in vitro and in a mouse model. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. Department Description
The mission of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) is to provide comprehensive medical care for the community, to develop innovative research aimed at elucidating basic mechanisms of disease, and to translate its research activities into both new clinical initiatives and a rich training environment for the next generation of academic physician scientists.
The Metcalfe Lab in the UCSF Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General, is focused on TB diagnostics and drug resistance, and how leveraging understanding of the fundamental biology of Mycobacterium tuberculosis can be used for better tuberculosis treatments.
Required Qualifications
BA/BS in a related science and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; and/or equivalent experience/training. Experience with the basic techniques or methods required by the position or an equivalent combination Experience with standard microbiology procedures such as media preparation, culturing, DNA extraction, etc. Basic molecular biology techniques including PCR and cloning. Experience working in a BSL-2.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a related science and experience with the basic techniques or methods required by the position. Experience working in a BSL-3.
