Job Title: Grant Budget Specialist Job Description
The Grant Budget Specialist collaborates with Principal Investigators (PIs), researchers, departmental staff, and other ancillary staff to develop complex grant and clinical trial budgets for new funding opportunities and grant renewals. This role involves coordinating with administrative and program staff to ensure grant objectives and costs are accurately reflected in project budgets. The specialist negotiates terms and conditions for Sponsors, Cooperative groups, and institutional clinical trials as necessary, and reviews and analyzes clinical trial protocols or grant schedules to ensure appropriate cost allocation and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Create and monitor complex grant budgets.
Coordinate completion of new grant budgets and renewals in collaboration with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Departments, PIs, and relevant staff.
Ensure awarded grants are implemented according to requirements and objectives.
Maintain awareness of federal, state, municipal, and other agency grant requirements.
Collaborate with Grants, Finance, and Department staff to assist with grant compliance and objectives.
Communicate with PIs, departments, and internal grants team about ongoing grant budgets.
Assist with coordination of grant budget revisions for renewals and funding proposals.
Develop detailed grant budgets with subject matter experts based on PIs input and project needs.
Create, review, revise, and negotiate research-related budgets consistent with sponsor documents and regulations.
Provide assistance in interpreting research funding opportunities and ensuring compliance with sponsor and institution policies.
Apply knowledge of federal regulations and policies on research compliance to ensure accuracy of grant budgets.
Assist with special projects in research administration processes as assigned.
Essential Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Understanding of clinical trial protocols and grant budgets.
Ability to interact with professionals across multiple hospital departments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, strong analytical abilities, and self-motivation.
Ability to meet fixed deadlines and multitask high volume workloads.
Ethical and diplomatic with strong customer service focus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate degree in business administration, finance, or a research-related field.
Two years of experience in grant or clinical research, budget development, billing compliance, research contract management, or research administration.

Pay and Benefits
