Job Details:
The Unit Clerk performs a variety of duties under the direction of the Manager, Nursing Supervisor or charge RN to ensure smooth flowing operation of unit. The Unit Clerk serves as a liaison between the unit, staff, auxiliary departments and the public to provide optimum level of care to our patient population.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answer phones professionally and appropriately direct calls to the correct location.
Prepare and maintain patient chart including filing, labeling, and breaking down discharge charts.
Maintain departmental paperwork, including admission packets and consents.
Maintain phone and fax lists, including staff list, provider list, departmental list
Maintain and keep all forms up to date in Forms Fast
Complete PSYCKES and health exchange reports as needed
Coordinate work orders with staff members, track completion and follow up recommendations.
Order patient care and office supplies for the unit on a weekly basis, and as needed.
Maintain up to date postings of on-call physicians and other hospital staff to prevent delays in patient care.
Manage patient phone list, menus, and other forms as needed
Schedule aftercare appointments and transportation as requested by nursing and counseling staff.
Fax referrals and discharge documents as requested by nursing and counseling staff.
Maintain pantry, supply, storage closet areas
Maintain nurse’s station in accordance to Joint Commission Standards
Collaborate with kitchen to address patient’s nutritional needs
Picks of mail daily from mail room
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: Possess computer skills including Microsoft Office; preferred experience with behavioral health
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent
Licenses / Certifications: BLS certified
Other: CPI Certification
