We're looking for a visually driven, AI forward, detail-obsessed Principal Product Designer to join the Accelerator Team. In this strategic role, you'll experiment with using and incorporating AI into new workflows and big vision projects. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams-including Visual Designers, Illustrators, Animators, Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and Content Designers-as well as Senior Leadership. Your focus will be on delivering intuitive and visually stunning experiences that reflect Yahoo's design excellence, product values and pushes the boundaries on how teams can work and deliver value to our users. Your work will span multiple Yahoo products, with particular emphasis on product thinking, visual design craft, layout, typography, brand expression, and pixel-level precision. You'll partner directly with leadership to define and elevate the design direction of high-impact initiatives.
Qualifications
Experience designing for web, iOS and Android platforms, with a strong understanding of platform guidelines and best practices. 6+ years of experience designing digital products, with a strong emphasis on visual design. A portfolio showcasing elegant, high-quality design across product experiences. Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and the ability to balance brand with usability. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting to executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end product design of strategic, consumer and internal innovations. Integrate and help define the use of AI tools in the Product Design workflow. Deliver intuitive, elegant solutions that reflect a deep understanding of user needs, business goals, and brand expression.
Set a high bar for design quality; obsess over details, from typography and spacing to motion and micro interactions. Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, research, and content to turn ideas into polished, user-centered solutions. Work upstream with company leadership to shape design direction on strategically critical initiatives. Partner with researchers to gather insights and iterate based on evidence and feedback. Present design work with clarity, confidence, and a strong rationale grounded in user and business goals. Guide feedback discussions and apply input in ways that strengthen the work without compromising vision. Mentor other designers and foster a culture of creative excellence and continuous refinement.

Accelerator team is responsible for 0-1 initiatives and to date has been working with designers from other teams and BUs. This hire will allow them to execute with greater autonomy and provide valuable skillsets needed to deliver on 0-1 initiatives. Overview of the team:
Accelerator team is responsible for innovation, 0-1 initiatives and experimentation with using AI models in product, engineering, prototyping and design workflows. Key team goals:
Work directly with and on teams with ideation, education, access support, prototyping, design frameworks and over all approach in a post genAI world. We're mandated to try new approaches, tools and services in order to help disseminate findings and successful approaches across the company.
Primary responsibilities (daily/weekly):
Lead the end-to-end product design of strategic, consumer and internal innovations. Integrate and help define the use of AI tools in the Product Design workflow. Present design work with clarity, confidence, and a strong rationale grounded in user and business goals. Key projects or initiatives for the role:
Yahoo Browser, AI Workflows, Office hours, education and presentations session, Success metrics or KPIs for this role:
Teams positively helped, AI adoption, prototypes delivered... and adopted, quality of works, time/ effort improvements How is success measured?
New process adoption, satisfaction from customer, % transformation across relevant areas, spend on ai, quality improvement (subjective), time improvement (w/o quality sacrifice) also subjective.
