Thinc, a leading international experiential design firm, is looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to join our team of diverse and dedicated creative professionals. Our practice includes high-profile projects such as museums, zoos, aquariums, expos, and more across the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. We work in collaborative teams that integrate architecture and physical exhibits with onsite experience, digital media, and online communities.

The successful candidate will have a keen interest in working as a key team member on world-class exhibition projects at varying scales with strong, culturally based interpretive and experiential qualities. Experience and skill in self-directed work in all phases of the design process, a penchant for working within collaborative team settings, and an interest in thinking and working out-of-the-box are essential.

Our practice operates in a mostly remote working environment but currently maintains an office in Lower Manhattan for hybrid collaboration. As a firm working internationally, flexibility for travel and ability to meet in person either in New York City or at client sites, when needed, is required.

The Senior Graphic Designer will participate in conceptual development, execution of environmental and exhibit graphic designs, and producing graphic styles for use by the team in interior and exterior exhibits. The Designer must be able to communicate design intent through sketches, writing and output while supporting direct client relationships. The Designer will work closely with the projects Lead Designer, Project Manager and the firms Principal.

Major Responsibilities

• Develop environmental and exhibit graphic designs for 2D and 3D applications and digital graphics for media from concept through final design.
• Maintain an independent workflow in accordance with the project schedule, in a fast-paced environment with a variety of tasks and deadlines.
• Work in a team environment including Thinc staff, sub-contractors, client contacts and their contractors/consultants, including as necessary supervising specific graphic consultants and direct presentations to stakeholders.
• Participate in conceptual development and illustrate design concepts through a variety of media.
• Travel to meetings and site visits may be required.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in environmental graphic design, exhibit design, or related fields, with experience in graphic design coordination and integration of graphics into concurrent 3D design efforts and visualizations.
• Proven experience of taking graphic designs from conceptualization through installation.
• High level of fluency with Adobe CS Suite.
• Proven experience with other 2D or 3D documentation tools a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Good knowledge of fabrication techniques and materials standards for sustainable graphic and exhibit design.
• Very high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work comfortably in a collaborative environment.
• B.A. or M.A. in Graphic Design or equivalent.
