About this Job

Northwestern State University is seeking dynamic and student-centered Enrollment Specialists to serve as frontline liaisons between the University and prospective as well as current students. This hybrid position combines recruitment of new students with retention support for currently enrolled students, ensuring seamless transitions from inquiry through graduation. Each Enrollment Specialist will be assigned to a specific academic specialization to provide tailored support and build meaningful connections with students and academic units. Specialization areas include:

School of Education and Human Development and School of Business Louisiana Scholar's College, School of Social Sciences and Humanities School of STEM School of Creative and Performing Arts Work Environment and Schedule: This is a full time position requiring on-campus presence. Some travel is required, including evenings and weekends during recruitment seasons. Enrollment Specialists will maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate prospective student needs and peak academic advising periods. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (Master's degree preferred) 1-2 years of experience in student services, admissions, advising, or related field (higher education experience preferred) Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Knowledge of enrollment processes including financial aid, registration, and student support services Demonstrated commitment to student success and customer service Proficiency with CRM systems ( e.g., Slate, Ellucian), Microsoft Office, and student information systems Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in or with one of the academic specializations listed Familiarity with Louisiana higher education systems and federal and state financial aid

Job Duties and Other Information

Recruitment (Prospective Student Engagement)

Represent NSU at college fairs, high school visits, transfer events, and community outreach activities in designated recruiting territories Develop and maintain relationships with prospective students and their families through consistent, personalized communication Assist in hosting academic-focused recruitment events in collaboration with faculty Assist prospective students with application, scholarship, and financial aid processes Provide expert knowledge on degree programs and career outcomes related to the assigned academic specialization Retention (Current Student Support)

Serve as a case manager for students within the assigned academic area, offering individualized support from enrollment through graduation Assist students with academic registration, financial aid, housing, and holds that may impact persistence Work closely with academic advisors, department heads, and support offices to resolve barriers to student success Utilize early alert systems to identify at-risk students and intervene through advising resource referrals, and proactive communication Facilitate outreach campaigns around key deadlines (registration, FAFSA completion,, account balances, etc.) Cross-functional Collaboration

Partner with faculty, coaches, advisors, and student services staff to enhance the student experience within academic areas where needed Maintain regular contact with departmental leadership in your assigned academic specialization to stay informed on curricular updates, student trends, and success indicators Participate in strategic enrollment and retention planning led by the Enrollment Management team.
