The Library Aid/Associate will assist the library media specialist in the daily maintenance of the library materials. The Library Aid will ensure smooth and efficient operation of the operation of the library through their knowledge of the overall function of the library, performing work and tasks as required or assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Receive, catalog new inventory, maintain, sort, issue and receive back library items utilizing library database computer software Sort material according to classifications or catalog numbers and return to shelves or other storage areas Utilize library software platforms to issue and track library items to borrowers Utilize library computer software to compile list of overdue items Issue overdue notices to borrowers Inspect returned items for damage and make minor repairs as able Assist Library Media Specialists with information inquiries Assist Library Media Specialist with the creation of publicity displays Qualifications:
Computer literate with experience with library associated software Detail oriented High School Diploma or GED Good organizational and communication skills Physical Demands:*
Must possess the ability to stand, sit, and walk unassisted Must possess normal visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses, and depth perception May be required to lift up to 20 pounds *The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
Work Environment:
Will work indoors in the Library setting May be exposed to noise levels that are distracting Work near others, often within a few feet Work related tasks may be subject to deadlines and time constraints Work Days:
185 days, 10 month school year employee Work Scheduled:
School days, 3.25 hours per day 8:45 am to 12:00 noon
The hours of this posiiton disqualify membership in the Classifed Union at East Windsor Public Schools Compensation & Benefits:
$21.76-$28.53, based on experinece
