Job Description: Maintenance. This role involves installation, repair and maintenance of electrical wiring, conduit, equipment and fixtures in an industrial setting. The Electrician I will perform work underground and above ground, lead lesser skilled electricians, and help ensure a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for complying with all Zachry and site-specific safety rules with oversight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Follow directions from a Multi-Craft Electrician, General Foreman, Craft Superintendent, Site Superintendent and/or Project Manager
- Comply with Lock, Tag and Try procedures for the Sweeny Refinery, associated facilities, and outlying terminals; oversee co-workers within your area of responsibility to ensure compliance
- Inspect designated work areas for hazards
- Participate in and complete the Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP) for Electricians per site guidelines
- Perform detailed inspections on hand and power tools to ensure safe operation
- Use hand and power tools (conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers, drills) with oversight of co-workers
- Examine blue prints, sketches, diagrams, building plans and specifications to determine locations of circuits, outlets, load centers, panel boards, wires, conduit and components
- Carry, cut, bend, connect and install conduit as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with oversight of co-workers
- Pull cables and conductors through specified pathways as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with oversight of co-workers
- Modify, fabricate and install cable trays as required and defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with oversight of co-workers
- Operate testing equipment to validate connections and circuit capability (clamp meters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, harmonics testers) with oversight of co-workers
- Inspect and test electrical equipment to ensure safe operation
- Install and maintain temporary power systems and their distribution per NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with oversight of co-workers
- Install and maintain equipment grounding/bonding on equipment and facilities with oversight of co-workers
- Terminate wire/cable to electrical equipment (outlets, switches, breakers, control panels, distribution systems) with oversight of co-workers
- Observe all state and local building/electrical codes
- Lead Safety Task Assessment (STA) meetings
- Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
- Must possess a TDLR Journeyman License, or TDLR Masters License, or NCCER Certified Plus Industrial Electrician, or completed the Zachry ZCAP Journeyman Electrician Qualification program
- Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, schematics and plans
- Thorough knowledge of electrician hand and power tools and layout tools
- Must have required tools
- Ability to work at heights up to 300 ft
- Able to meet physical demands and pre-employment conditions
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to work 7 days a week

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical demands: standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting up to 25 lbs; may work at heights; PPE requirements include hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, mask/respirator, safety vest, gloves and steel-toe boots
- Work environment: all weather conditions, varying elevations, moderate to high noise, presence of equipment and tools; adhere to safety protocols
Certifications and Licenses
- Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Journeyman Electrician License OR
- Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Master Electrician License OR
- NCCER Industrial Electrician Certified OR
- Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP) Journeyman Electrician Qualification
