Civil Service Title: Electrician
This is a List call request.
Eligibility: To be considered for this position, candidates must be serving permanently in the title of Electrician, be reachable on the open-competitive list (Exam # 3029), or eligible under the 55-a Program. Please indicate this on your resume.
Job Responsibilities
- Install, repair, replace, and maintain electrical systems and components of the city's infrastructure, machinery, and lighting systems.
- Keep job and operational records.
- Respond to emergency situations and environmental compliance emergencies.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating contingency plans for operational needs.
- Prepare job orders and requisitions for tools and materials.
- Maintain tunnel records and prepare reports.
- Consult with and advise supervisors on operational problems or issues.
- Ensure appropriate responses to emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Note: The shift may be day, evening, or night.
Preferred Skills
- Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License valid in New York State. Maintenance of this license is required during employment.

Minimum Qualifications
- Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as an electrician; or
- At least three years of full-time experience as an electrician plus relevant education or experience to make up the remaining required experience, including college credits or technical training.
License Requirements
- Valid Motor Vehicle Driver License in New York State is required for certain positions and must be maintained during employment.
- For special electrician roles, specific licenses and/or certificates are required.
Additional Preferences
- Preference for candidates with a Class B Commercial Driver's License valid in New York.
- Candidates may need to meet specific requirements to obtain this license and must maintain it during employment.
