Infrastructure IT Operational Specialist

Airbus Americas, Inc. is seeking an Infrastructure IT Operational Specialist to join the Digital Operations team. This role is contingent upon regulatory approvals and the closing of a transaction establishing a new Airbus Affiliate in Kinston, NC (the Kinston Affiliate). The Infrastructure IT Operational Specialist would be an employee of the Kinston Affiliate.

Overview: You will be part of a team supporting Digital Team activities from an Infrastructure standpoint and ensuring Infrastructure run activities operate with the expected performance for various business functions. You will work to protect the company from security threats and ensure end-users have access to tools and data when needed.

Meet the Team / Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Digital (Information Management team), Network Operations and the Hosting Team to maintain enterprise-class service level, availability, integrity, and security of deployed network and hosting components.
  • Be the voice and face of the infrastructure team.
  • Local Hand and Feet support – 25% activity: complex cable configurations; placement device management; test devices and fix errors; rack and stacking services; shipping and receiving; pack and unpack; stage/server installation of received equipment; detect and respond to hardware issues via weekly tours of infrastructure rooms and datacenters; moving equipment; power cycling / remote server restarts; on-site technical support and troubleshooting; hardware wiping before recycling; storage management.
  • Service Operations, Management and Monitoring – 50%: identify, categorize, diagnose, and resolve IT problems on infrastructure; plan, install, and configure software/hardware; manage network components and configurations; manage accounts, passwords, security, and device integrity; support new projects, data flow evaluation, security requirements, and budget circulations.
  • Asset Life Cycle Management – 20%: maintain hardware/software inventory (CMDB) for the site perimeter; manage licensing and budget inputs for renewals/replacements; update/upgrade systems and software; support IT component disposal per policies.

Boarding Pass / Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of network support experience in an IM (Information Management) environment.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in either physical cabling, IT Network, wireless communications, or hosting environments.
  • Technical skills in infrastructure systems, protocols, and troubleshooting; knowledge of networking, wireless, wiring technologies, or hosting.
  • Attention to detail and ability to apply Airbus standards; good communication skills; continuous learning mindset.
  • Must meet Airbus onsite requirements for industrial areas (PPE, PS@W safety protocols, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs, etc.).
  • Problem-solving ability and adaptability in a matrixed organization as both an individual contributor and team collaborator.

Licensure / Certifications

  • Required: Technical certification(s) such as A+, Security+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate, Cisco Certified Network Associate.
  • Knowledge of fiber and copper cabling standards and cabling best practices; knowledge of wireless standards and best practices.
  • Preferred: ITIL foundations (ITIL certifications a plus); Agile and SAFe methodologies; understanding of Airbus IM standards, projects, and service methodologies; experience supporting IM systems in production/manufacturing environments; knowledge of wireless testers and cabling measurement tools.

Travel: 0-10%

Citizenship: Eligible for employment in the US

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: 80% onsite required (NC)
  • Vision, hearing, speech: daily requirements to read, hear, speak in meetings and on production floor
  • Equipment operation, carrying, lifting (up to 30-50 lbs depending on task), pushing/pulling, sitting, standing, walking
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by site/customer; steel-toed shoes for shop floor visits
  • Travel readiness and ability to travel independently on short notice
