The Role
QuidelOrtho is seeking a Production Planner II responsible for the production planning and inventory control activities necessary to plan, schedule and control production. Ensure timely production and appropriate inventory levels of manufactured items. Work with manufacturing to optimize operations and develop lean manufacturing methods including batch sizes, product structures, MRP parameters, WIP flow and demand-pull scheduling.Demonstrates knowledge in production planning.Interfaces with other functional groups. Keep current on new methods in production and inventory control.This role provides training, guidance and support to the manufacturing support clerical and production planning activities.
This role is onsite in Carlsbad, CA.
The Responsibilities
Creates reports to display material progress, needs, current activity and performance to plan.
Monitors subassembly expiration dates and takes appropriate action to avoid expiry.
Support the Reagent Business Supply/Demand requirements. Supports Leads/Supervisors to determine status of assigned production. Communicated delays and/or changes to the daily / weekly schedules.
Provide guidance for the manufacturing support clerical and production planning activities required to support current product line assignment.
Provide both shop floor control and chemistry group functions with inventory requirements to meet customer orders and marketing forecast inventory demands.
Re-define inventory delivery priorities and re-schedule as required.
Assure timely, consistent and accurate ordering of inventory to current policies and procedures.
Support management of status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems.
Ensure accurate tracking and resolution of production shortages as required to support customer objectives.
Advise sales department of customer order delivery schedule exceptions and alternative action.
Support sub-assembly and assembly manufacturing functions as required until the MPS department can be established.
Able to work independently and as a Team lead.
Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.
Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job. Has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities.
Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
The Individual
Required 3 to 5years planning experience in a multi-product manufacturing plant using material requirements planning or a BS degree in Supply Chain or Operations Management
Organization skills and attention to detail
Must be proficient in MS Excel.
Must have excellent communication skills and ability to effectively coordinate activities of other departments to meet production schedules.
Familiar with federal and other regulations, e.g. QSR's, ISO, ISO 13485, CMDR.
Preferred Bachelor's degree in Chemistry
APICS certification
Knowledge of MRP, MPS, JIT, CRP, ERP2 and inventory management principles desired.

Internal Partners: Sales and Marketing and the forecasting team, Global distribution and customer service teams, Manufacturing, Purchasing, InventoryControl, QC Chemistry
External Partners: Global Sourcing and Suppliers
The Work Environment
The work environment characteristics are representative of both an office and manufacturing environment and may include handling potentially hazardous chemicals. Some time spent in production areas and warehouses. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines. Occasional travel required. Domestic travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel.
The Physical Demands
Position requires ability to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis. Typically, 40% of the time in meetings; 60% of the time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/ on phone, doing analytical work. Walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position may be required to use Personal Protective Equipment as posted.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $92,000.00 - $100,000.00. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays.
