Essential Job Functions
- Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, debugs, installs, and deploys application software programs to build/maintain/modify business applications and interfaces according to user stories, requirements, and program specifications in the application development environments.
- Captures software requirements and develops requirement specifications, user stories, functional and technical design specifications, user manuals, and release notes in collaboration with team members.
- Develops and supports front-end software applications, including user interfaces, mobility, business intelligence and reporting, and enterprise content management using various development tools.
- Develops and supports middle-tier software applications, including web services integration, business process management, business rules, API governance, and application security using various tools.
- Develops and supports back-end software applications in data integration and replication, data modeling, data security, AI/ML, and database management using various tools.
- Develops and/or supports tools and automation processes, including release management, configuration management, source control, and operational support using various tools.
- Performs unit, functional, integration, automated system, and/or performance testing for new or existing software applications.
- Provides support on application issues in development, QA, training, and production environments by investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving issues.
- Researches application development tools and methodologies to provide recommendations for improving software.

Requirements to Qualify
Two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years analyzing, designing, evaluating, developing, coding, testing, and maintaining application systems.

License
A valid California Class C Driver's License or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Physical Class
Physical Class II – Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring a light physical effort, including occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
Veteran's Credit Information
The County of Los Angeles policy states that a credit of 10 percent of the total credits specified for open competitive examinations will be added to the final passing grade for honorably discharged veterans who served under specific conditions. Examination content
This examination will consist of TWO (2) parts:
Part I: Multiple choice and/or simulation assessment(s), weighted 40%, assessing: deductive reasoning, professional potential, achievement, working relationships, analyzing information, learning quickly, generating ideas, time management, quality standards, adaptability, coping with uncertainty, willingness to learn, and responsibility.
Candidates may be invited to participate in both Part I and II. Only those achieving a passing score of 70% or higher in Part I will have Part II scored.
Part II: Multiple choice and/or simulation assessment(s), weighted 60%, assessing: HTML/CSS and related skills for the role.
Note: Multiple choice and/or simulation assessments are not reviewable by candidates per civil service rule 7.19.
Applicants must meet the requirements and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on each part to be placed on the eligible list.
Transfers and Test Preparation
Transfer of test components may apply if you have taken identical components recently for other exams. Test preparation resources are available to help candidates prepare for the assessment.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information
Candidates who pass the assessment are placed on a list for six months and vacancies are filled from this list as they occur.
