Opportunity: The Software Engineer – Backend Developer will be responsible for building scalable and secure backend systems for our cloud-native healthcare platform. This role will work closely with mobile application developers and firmware engineers to create seamless communication between IoT devices and cloud services. This will be a highly autonomous role in a startup-like team where most of the design and infrastructure decisions will be driven by you. You will develop reliable, compliant, and high-performance APIs and services. The success of this position will be measured by the success of the team in advancing technology development and launching new products in market. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, cloud-native backend services deployed on AWS, using technologies like EKS, RDS, S3, CloudFront, and ECR.
• Build and maintain containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments via Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with frontend teams to implement secure and efficient REST APIs for backend services.
• Write and optimize production-level code in Node.js and TypeScript, with a focus on performance, security, and maintainability.
• Architect event-driven and microservices-based solutions aligned with product and business needs.
• Improve backend system performance, reliability, and fault tolerance through continuous monitoring and optimization.
• Lead backend design and development practices within Agile development teams.
• Collaborate with a Global team in both the US and Korea.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of backend development experience with a strong focus on cloud-based and distributed systems.
• Expertise with AWS services including EKS, EC2, ECR, ELB, VPC, RDS, S3, and CloudFront.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration in a microservices environment.
• Solid grasp of CI/CD practices and experience with tools such as GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Proven experience building scalable APIs and backend systems using modern cloud technologies.
• Strong knowledge of database management, performance tuning, and cloud-native storage.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and work collaboratively in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.
• Ability to communicate in English with effective interpersonal, spoken, and written communication skills.
• Professional certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or related DevOps fields is preferred.
• Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages is a plus.
• Experience with HIPAA and GDPR regulations through robust security measures is a plus.
• Background in health tech or healthcare, with knowledge of industry-specific challenges and regulations is a plus.
