Position

Join our exciting & dedicated team at Vallen as a Warehouse Associate. In this position, you will be responsible for following established procedures and guidelines to receive, handle, stock and store, record, and dispatch goods in a warehouse or distribution center.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Completes shipments by processing and loading orders; reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Unloads, receives and puts away incoming goods and merchandise; unpacks containers; checks for damage and discrepancies; may install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Sorts, labels, moves, and stores goods according to predetermined sequences; optimizes warehouse space and follows work orders or verbal instructions.
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution within the warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Prepares, picks, packs, and dispatches outgoing goods; uses pick sheets to locate items; verifies product and quantity accuracy.
  • Loads trucks for customer delivery; may install strapping or padding to prevent shifting; checks for damage and discrepancies.
  • Consolidates freight for shipping; verifies shipping method and communicates oversize loads as needed.
  • Enters data into databases to maintain up-to-date stock records; responds to inquiries and documents discrepancies for corrective action.
  • Maintains safety by following warehouse regulations and operating equipment as needed (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
  • Assists in inventory maintenance and counts; performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of relevant experience and/or training.

  • Experience loading, unloading, picking, packing, or moving goods in a warehouse; forklift/cherry picker experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work orders, operating instructions, and procedures.
  • Basic computer knowledge and aptitude; familiarity with MS-Office and warehouse software is a plus.
  • Basic mathematical skills and ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to compile routine reports and communicate clearly; teamwork oriented and self-motivated.
  • Attention to detail and safety-mindedness.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Reasonable accommodations may be provided. The role may involve extreme temperatures, dusty conditions, and handling of hazardous materials with appropriate PPE. Certification for forklift or other equipment may be required. Shifts may vary or rotate; overtime and weekend work may be required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs or more with assistance; standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and other physical activities are expected; vision requirements apply.
