Field Service Heavy Equipment Mechanic

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our construction operations team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment used in construction projects, including dozers, excavators, backhoes, telehandlers, and other diesel-powered and hydraulic machinery.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and a solid understanding of industry safety standards.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriages, braking systems, and electrical components. Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections on heavy equipment to reduce downtime. Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to identify mechanical problems and determine the best repair methods. Use specialized tools, equipment, and computerized diagnostic software to service machinery. Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used. Coordinate with fleet manager, supervisors and operators regarding equipment performance issues. Operate heavy equipment to test repairs and ensure proper functionality. Be available for occasional after-hours emergency repairs and weekend callouts as needed to support operations. Experience working on brands such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, or similar. CDL or ability to operate heavy equipment safely for testing and relocation. High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification in diesel or heavy equipment repair preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic in a construction or industrial setting. Must have own tools appropriate for heavy equipment repair. Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain). bend, kneel, climb, and work in varying field conditions. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Duties are performed throughout the inside and outside of the building(s). Visual requirements are constant. Due to the nature of the environment, employee is exposed to potential mechanical, chemical, electrical and fire hazards on a regular basis.
