Summary: The Warehouse Associate is responsible for efficiently and accurately filling customer orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity. Responsible for all warehouse transactions, as well as the upkeep and maintenance of the branch warehouse environment and equipment.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute to a culture and environment focused daily on employee safety and a safe work environment
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures, Environmental Health and Safety Rules, and immediately address safety concerns
  • Receive material coming into the building by vendors, customers, or other warehouses and verify the quantity and description of materials received by checking against the packing list
  • Keep incoming orders stocked on shelves in designated areas and report freight damage claims
  • Prepare branch orders from the warehouse and ensure the correct number and type of product is being shipped
  • Process paperwork regarding shipments, verify merchandise, apply correct postage/tape/labels, follow customer shipping instructions, and insure the shipment when necessary
  • Operate machinery including forklift, reach truck, and wire cutting machine when required
  • Load common carrier and company vehicles
  • Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment
  • Perform inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
  • Make deliveries to branches/customers as needed
  • Assist with other warehouse or branch duties as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment preferred
  • If required to make deliveries, must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years of age
  • Must pass pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record review
  • Must obtain verification of non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 60 days of hire
  • Must not have had a suspended driver’s license for a traffic accident/violation within the past 3 years
  • Must not have any at-fault accidents in the past 3 years
  • High School or GED preferred
  • General knowledge of electrical products is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers
  • Ability to handle basic issues and problems and perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work overtime as needed
  • Basic computer knowledge

Working Environment & Physical Demands

  • Physical demands include varying levels of sitting, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and operating warehouse equipment
  • Exposed to typical warehouse conditions with potential for noise, heat, or cold; electrical hazards may be present
