Assembly Technician – Engineering Team BiomeSense is revolutionizing human health by developing novel hardware for daily gut microbiome sampling and AI-driven analytics. We're a fast-paced hardware startup, and we're looking for a highly skilled Assembly Technician to join our Engineering team and help bring our technology to life. If you're a hands-on technical problem-solver who excels at prototyping, electro-mechanical assembly, and troubleshooting, this is your chance to make a direct impact on a cutting-edge scientific platform. What You'll Do: The Core Mission You will be the key technical resource responsible for the build quality and serviceability of our novel GutLab hardware. Hardware Build & Test : Perform detailed electrical, mechanical, and fluidic assembly of hardware prototypes and sub-assemblies following engineering specifications and SOPs. Troubleshooting & Repair : Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex hardware, software, and firmware issues on prototypes, both in the lab and in the field. Engineering Enablement : Design, build, and improve test setups and fixtures to optimize assembly and validation efficiency. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly inventoried hardware lab. Documentation & Quality : Create and refine high-quality documentation (SOPs, manuals) to ensure rapid, high-quality production, and provide critical assembly feedback to the engineering design team. What You'll Bring: The Must-Haves Associate’s Degree (or equivalent training) + 3 years of hands-on experience in a hardware Technician role, with a focus on prototype assembly. Expertise with a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, and measurement equipment (calipers, multimeters, etc.). Proven ability to perform detailed wiring, harnessing, and soldering. Highly organized, proactive, and independent. Ready to thrive in a startup environment. Willingness to travel up to 25% for field repair and system installation. Preferred Qualifications: 5 years of hands-on experience in a hardware Technician role, with a focus on prototype assembly. Experience with instrument control software and/or basic scripting. Familiarity with prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing, light machining). Prior experience in a production line or scaling environment.
