Overview Senior O&M Engineer - Mechanical role at Avangrid. This position supports Avangrid’s Offshore Wind O&M department, focusing on the delivery of O&M scope of works for offshore wind projects in the USA. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will work with contractors, multinational joint ventures, and multiple Avangrid departments to maximize long-term asset value and production revenue. The role reports to the Manager, Structural and Mechanical Engineering.

Provide technical/engineering support for multi-million dollar offshore O&M campaigns/installations with coordination across multiple interfaces to ensure delivery within time, budget, and quality, following industry best practices, HSE, regulatory, and legal compliance. Offer strategic advice, assessment, and recommendations to the business throughout the project life cycle (development to decommissioning) with a focus on mechanical systems within Balance of Plant wind farm assets (e.g., lifting equipment/cranes, HVAC, cooling systems, safety systems, tanks and generators). Implement offshore standards, procedures, tools, best practices, and quality requirements. Evaluate O&M solutions and associated risk levels affecting technical integrity or asset performance; provide mitigation recommendations to reduce risk and identify cost-effective O&M solutions. Define detailed maintenance requirements for contracts related to turbine foundations, offshore substations, and associated equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory bodies. Support management in defining the R&D strategy for O&M to reduce energy costs and lead or resource R&D projects as needed. Assess technical interventions and present cases to internal managers or external contractors based on asset integrity, electricity production, and KPI analysis. Work with the HSE team to develop an O&M health, safety, and environmental strategy and maintain a high standard of safety awareness. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Significant experience (5+ years) in Offshore Wind or Oil & Gas Knowledge of lifting equipment, HVAC equipment, safety systems, generators, and related inspection/maintenance activities IT literate with ability to operate MS Office and project management tools Eligible to work in the US Flexibility to travel around the US and overseas Strong communication skills; ability to work in highly skilled teams Ability to analyze complex engineering problems, perform root-cause analysis, and propose solutions Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working in a rapidly changing environment Ability to climb steel structures to perform inspections Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds Ability to complete GWO basic safety and sea survival training Ability to complete HUET training Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent Experience with Offshore Wind development and operations Foreign language skills (Spanish, French, German) Competencies
