Principal Bridge Designer

to join our Transportation group in

Boston, MA . This role follows a

hybrid work model , based in Boston. Participate in bridge design assignments involving contract plans preparation and specifications, design calculations, quantity calculations, and cost estimates. Perform and review load rating analyses and prepare load rating reports. Provide office and field support for construction services. Review shop drawing submittals, organize submittals, and address questions from contractors during the construction phase of projects. Perform bridge and tunnel inspections and prepare inspection reports. Inform Project Managers of workload changes, project schedule or scope changes, or additional services. Provide technical guidance on unusual or complex problems. Demonstrate understanding of team management, develop project scope of work, estimate manpower needs, prepare CPM schedules, and track project progress. Assist or participate in the preparation of business proposals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited university or college. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Experience in new bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, construction services administration, load ratings, and inspection of bridges. Experience with structural design software such as AASHTOWare BrR, Midas 3D Civil, STAAD Pro, MDX, CSiBridge, LUSAS, and/or other structural analysis software; MathCAD is a plus. Strong ability to read and interpret plans and shop drawings and evaluate contractor compliance with construction plans and specifications. Team-oriented and able to communicate effectively while managing multiple projects and changing priorities. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or MicroStation. Commitment to maintaining professional and technical knowledge through education, publications, networks, and professional organizations. Valid Driver's License. No relocation assistance – local candidates preferred.

Compensation The salary range for this role is

$160,000 - $180,000 ; salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
