Job Summary
The Senior Director Franchising is responsible for driving the strategic growth plan of Papa Johns in North America, including reshaping the landscape of franchisees via strategic recruitment of new franchisees, franchise-to-franchise transactions, corporate refranchising, driving existing franchise development, and non- traditional development. This role will be pivotal to Papa Johns achieving annual business development goals; reshaping the landscape of franchisees; projecting and managing the business development budgets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other Duties As Assigned)
Provide leadership (strategy, planning, execution, risk assessment and mitigation, collaboration, issue resolution) to ensure that recruitment of existing franchisees and new franchisees will achieve net restaurant opening goals for Papa Johns Existing franchisees: Assist in sourcing, qualifying, and closing new development agreements with existing franchisees. Also, design and direct marketing and pitch presentations to generate interest and activity that results in a greater number of existing franchisees building new restaurants New franchisees: Lead franchising team in proactive franchise recruitment activities that result in the recruitment of growth-minded multi-unit franchisees within targeted priority markets. Assist in sourcing, qualifying, closing, and onboarding these new franchisees Non-Traditional: Assist non-traditional strategy, establishing long-term partnerships and net unit growth through various non-traditional channels Work alongside Strategic Market Planning Team on execution of long-term market plan, creating long-term sustainable growth for the brand and franchisees Manage franchise and development agreement compliance, through strong processes and communication with franchise system Drive strategic transfer plans and refranchising efforts, to reshape the landscape of North America Franchisees Meet Papa Johns growth targets through active engagement with existing franchisees as well as executing on the Franchising Team’s recruitment strategy Develop and implement a business plan for Portfolio Management of existing franchisees, including Joint-Capital Planning with Top Franchisees Lead compiling and updating the Franchise Disclosure Document to ensure it is beneficial for growth Create and execute strategic plans for reducing the number of existing franchise restaurant closings through the effective use of the Franchising Team in coordination with the Administration team, Legal, FP&A, and Key Operations partners Provide projections for and achieve new business development goals in North America Create and manage the annual business development departmental budget, including advertising and tradeshow contracts Strategic oversight for all business development deals, franchise and corporate that support the company’s long-range growth plans. Design, manage & execute development incentive programs
Education, Experience & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in equivalent field required Minimum of Ten (10) years franchise experience in a senior position, consulting, servicing, or managing franchisees required. Experience building strategy and establishing new business opportunities, with demonstrated ability to build, supervise and motivate teams to reach objectives Hands on experience with franchising practices, negotiations, and business development practices, including non-traditional development Five (5) years’ experience in high growth QSR, preferred Proven strategic market analysis and implementation experience Proven ability to lead large scale refranchising efforts and strategic franchisee-to-franchisee transfers Ability to interface and maintain excellent professional relationships with a variety of audiences to include operations partners, internal development team, internal and external legal counsel, Finance, and various other departments within the brand Excellent oral and written communication skills to include formal presentation experience and the ability to prepare and present sales presentations and/or negotiate franchise agreements Proven history of successfully achieving store/unit franchise annual opening plans Proven negotiation skills at executive level and ability to negotiate terms of contracts
Functional Skills
Proven ability to comprehend, analyze, and negotiate contracts. Management and supervision experience in a corporate environment required Strong analytical background & finance acumen Strong computer knowledge, (advanced in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint a must)
