Senior Data Governance Specialist - MI)
Description: As a Senior Data Governance Specialist, you will lead data governance efforts within assigned data domains. Your responsibilities include applying advanced data ownership and stewardship structures, proactively identifying and resolving complex data quality issues, and overseeing the enrichment of the data catalog with comprehensive domain and system knowledge. You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and drive strategic data governance initiatives to support business goals and ensure data integrity across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Data Governance Representative for a data domain, lead workgroup meetings, and maintain the charter.
- Provide data analysis through development of code for data domain related needs.
- Lead the curation of the data catalog for the data domain.
- Leverage tools, data domains, and industry standards to enable data governance.
- Maintain master data for all important data areas of the organization.
- Lead development, execution, maintenance, and troubleshooting of scripts and reports using SQL, Microsoft Excel, or other analytics tools.
- Represent data governance and assigned data domains to apply and monitor data ownership and stewardship structures.
- Evaluate and remediate data quality issues.
- Curate the data catalog with data domains and system-related definitions and knowledge.
- Lead owners and stewards in implementing key data governance initiatives as part of business objectives.
- Support customers through knowledge of business objectives and timely, accurate completion of work products.
- Identify rules to enhance data quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science). (Required)
- Minimum Work Experience: 6 years with deep functional knowledge or equivalent experience reflecting the level of this position. (Required)
- Great knowledge of data governance principles and experience with enterprise information assets management.
- Experience working with large datasets, data verification and data management.
- Experience with complex data profiling and analysis.
- Experience with data governance processes and roles, and with Master Data Management.
- Experience with Agile Software Development.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex findings clearly; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to identify basic problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to work independently; demonstrated analytical and project management skills.
