Senior QA Engineer role at Zip. We are building an automation-first quality assurance approach to deliver a world-class product experience. The Zip platform helps organizations manage procurement more simply. Zip has created a new category in this $50B+ TAM space and serves world-class customers globally. What You'll Do
Lead Automation Efforts: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable test automation frameworks, with a primary focus on Playwright and TypeScript. Drive Down Manual Testing: Expand end-to-end automation coverage to reduce manual regression testing and support a twice-weekly deployment schedule. Champion Quality: Act as the quality advocate within your embedded product team, ensuring sufficient test coverage for new code and providing feedback on testability of features. Own Test Strategy: Develop comprehensive test plans aligning with the testing pyramid, balancing unit, integration, and E2E tests. You will advise on what to cover and at which layer. Triage and Debug: Investigate, triage, and perform root cause analysis on complex bugs and test failures; collaborate with engineers to resolve swiftly and use failures to improve the test suite. Embrace a Hacker Mindset: Conduct strategic exploratory testing to uncover core edge cases and simulate unexpected user behavior to ensure resilience and usability. Collaborate and Mentor: Work with an offshore team to execute regression suites and embed quality across the development lifecycle. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of experience in a QA Automation role. Expert-level proficiency in building automated tests with modern frameworks, specifically Playwright using TypeScript. Strong programming skills in at least one modern language, such as JavaScript/TypeScript or Python. Deep understanding of QA methodologies, the testing pyramid, and best practices in a SaaS environment. Proven experience creating detailed test plans and test cases for complex product flows. Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and integrating automated tests into the development lifecycle. Nice to Haves
Experience in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment with self-prioritization. Professional experience with Python for test automation. Experience testing complex financial workflows (invoices, billing, payments). Expertise in non-functional testing (performance, load, accessibility). Familiarity with SaaS release processes and working with offshore QA teams. Salary & Perks
The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $175,000. The salary for this position is determined based on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant experience, education, or particular skills and expertise. Perks & Benefits
