Facilities Engineer Overview

The Painter is responsible for performing skilled painting tasks to maintain and repair facility buildings, equipment, and infrastructure. This role ensures surfaces are prepared and painted according to specifications, maintaining high safety, appearance, and compliance standards. The Painter may assist other trades and participate in facility inspections and remodeling projects. What You’ll Do As a Facilities Engineer

Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, filling holes, and applying primers. Paint interior and exterior surfaces of buildings and infrastructure using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment. Conduct scheduled painting maintenance to preserve building condition and aesthetics. Maintain a record of painted areas and touch-up requirements. Work with facilities staff and contractors to review painting work on construction and remodeling projects. Ensure work complies with safety standards and facility specifications. Follow safety procedures when using paints, solvents, and tools. Maintain painting equipment, tools, and supplies in good working condition. Collaborate with other trades on facility repairs and renovations. Assist in the upkeep of infrastructure related to walls, ceilings, and finishes. Order and stock paint and related materials. Select appropriate products for each task and ensure proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials. Complete daily work logs and report issues or needs to the Facilities Services manager.
