Job Function and Location Job Function: Discovery & Pre-Clinical/Clinical Development Job Sub Function: Biological Research Job Category: Scientific/Technology All Job Posting Locations: San Diego, California, United States of America Position Summary Scientific position within the Assay Development and Screening team developing assays to characterize oligonucleotides for target gene knockdown in relevant cell types, assess cell viability, screen for innate immune responses, and adapt assays to automation for high throughput screening of oligo libraries to identify hits and further characterize for potency and safety. Additionally, this position will provide analysis for PK/PD studies to test for siRNA levels and target mRNA levels in tissue samples. You will be responsible for: Develop methods for RNA extraction, qPCR, immunoassays, and analytical methods to characterize oligonucleotides Conduct and troubleshoot experiments, independently and in collaboration with colleagues, to characterize and screen siRNA oligonucleotides through routine and consistent performance of 4 or more assays Work with complex cell types including IPSC neurons for culturing and developing cell based functional assays Collect and evaluate data; prepare reports, summaries, and presentations; maintain and update laboratory notebook and the laboratory information management system Represent the ADS group on drug discovery project teams to plan for assay development and screening needs and updating the project team with resulting data, conclusions, and recommendations Share work at team meetings and scientific forums for broader dissemination of results and contributions Research literature and broaden scientific knowledge on relevant assay formats and disease areas, and strengthen expertise in oligo therapies Support ADS team on operational lab functions, including managing inventories of supplies, ordering reagents and consumables Other activities may include serving as EH&S representative, DDI Champion, CREDO team member, or some other support role that helps the broader team Qualifications/Requirements Required: A Bachelor's degree in Biology or related scientific field A minimum of 1 year in Complex cellular assays including primary cells and IPSC cells such as human neurons; Liquid handling automation; RNA extraction from cell cultures and tissues; QPCR, immunoassays; presentation skills; data analysis software such as Excel and Prism Preferred: Cell line generation; experience working with LIMS or databases; experience on cross functional matrix teams Company Information and Equal Opportunity Johnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Compensation and Benefits The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $105,000 to $169,050 annually. The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States.
