Position Type: School Social Worker

Responsibilities (List is not all inclusive):
  • Providing direct counseling services to students individually and in groups to support emotional, behavioral, and social development.
  • Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families to identify students in need of support and develop intervention strategies.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans for students with special needs.
  • Conducting assessments and evaluations to determine students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Supporting students and families in crisis situations and connecting them to appropriate community resources.
  • Promoting a safe and inclusive school environment by implementing and supporting school-wide social-emotional learning initiatives.
  • Serving as a liaison between school, home, and community service agencies to coordinate care and advocacy for students.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Participating in school-based team meetings and collaborating with multidisciplinary staff to support student success.
Requirements:
  • Valid Connecticut certification as a School Social Worker (071) or eligibility for certification.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral interventions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators, families, and community providers.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting the holistic development of all students.
