The Amazon Books business is seeking an experienced senior leader to drive growth and innovation across various marketplaces, including Canada, India, Australia, and Mexico. As the Category Leader, you will own the P&L and be responsible for developing a high-performing team while building a scalable model for growing marketplaces efficiently. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong capabilities in strategic thinking and execution at global scale; building and developing high-performing teams; data-driven decision making and financial acumen; cross-cultural communication and stakeholder management; process improvement and operational excellence; and innovation and scalable solution development.
Key job responsibilities
- Own and drive P&L performance across multiple marketplaces, including planning, forecasting, and strategic growth initiatives
- Create and execute strategic business plans while collaborating with key stakeholders (operations, marketing, etc.)
- Drive operational excellence through centralized, standardized processes and automation
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with publishers across multiple markets
- Optimize fixed costs while improving unit economics across the portfolio
- Develop and implement scalable solutions that can be replicated across other product categories
- Partner with US and EU hubs to improve operational efficiency and demand generation
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of operational and/or retail management experience
- 7+ years of people management experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Proven track record of P&L ownership and delivering strong financial results
- Experience owning selection strategy
- Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing, and inventory management
- Experience leading and transforming organizations across multiple geographies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA or advanced degree
- Prior experience successfully serving international customers
- Prior experience in the publishing industry

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
