Overview
Job Title: Warehouse Helper
Location: Parlin, NJ
Type: Contract To Hire
Compensation: $18-$21/hr (based on experience)
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Note: This is a temp-to-hire, full-time (permanent) position in a small, family-owned warehouse setting in Parlin, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Work with rubber conveyor belt material to create a custom fit belt. This is physical work requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Teamwork is essential as the shop is small and coworkers help each other. Team members ship conveyor belt material across North America.
- Select proper materials and prepare material for processing based on customer order, including measuring, cutting, lacing and threading belts, attaching brackets, clasps, and other hardware.
- Prepare material to meet customer specifications, including cutting rubber with mechanical machinery, manual cutting, and attaching brackets using power tools.
- Ensure accurate measurements before all cuts.
- Assemble and tighten clasps, fittings, roller-bearing mechanisms, and other components as needed.
- Use power tools and hand tools (hammers, tape measures, drills, screwdrivers, etc.) as required.
- RF scanning of products and customer orders.
- Prepare material for shipment and double-check order accuracy (rubber material: gaskets, belts, seals, etc.).
- Pull material from inventory, maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Operate palletizer (shrink wrap) and wrap completed pallets.
- Follow instructions accurately, including Amazon instructions for recurring orders.
- Use shipping software to create shipping labels (e.g., FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldWide, etc.).
- Load/ unload trucks with customer orders using pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts; unload materials as needed.
- Stage and store incoming material in appropriate locations; RF scanning.
- Verify received items match orders before breaking down.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the warehouse at all times.
- Operate machinery to cut customer orders to the correct size (training provided).
- Basic sit-down forklift operation is required; training is provided.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid New Jersey driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- At least one year of prior warehouse or related work experience with positive references; job-hopping may be considered but is generally discouraged.
- Forklift training provided; basic forklift experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently, lead by example, and meet goals. Motivated to learn and succeed.
- Fluent English required.
- Must have a formal resume and stable work history; ability to work without using a cell phone during the workday.
