The Opportunity

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily warehouse operations in a USDA and FDA regulated supplement manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for leading a team of warehouse associates, ensuring the efficient and compliant flow of raw materials, ingredients, and finished goods. The Warehouse Lead will ensure that all operations are in compliance with FDA, USDA, GMP, and internal quality standards while maintaining a safe and organized environment. This role reports to both the Warehouse Supervisor and the GM.

Team Leadership & Supervision:

  1. Supervise, train, and mentor warehouse staff to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  2. Assign and prioritize tasks to team members, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.

Process Improvement & Reporting:

  1. Work with Warehouse Supervisor to identify areas for improvement in warehouse processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  2. Work with the Warehouse Supervisor and General Manager to implement changes to workflows, storage systems, or technology.
  3. Report key performance metrics, including inventory levels, order accuracy, and any issues related to safety or compliance, to Warehouse Supervisor or GM.
  4. Work with and support WH Supervisor to resolve any issues or discrepancies related to inventory, shipments, or material handling.

Warehouse Operations & Compliance:

  1. Ensure that all warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, inventory control, and shipping, are performed in accordance with FDA, USDA, and GMP regulations.
  2. Maintain accurate inventory records and oversee cycle counts, audits, and periodic inventory reconciliation.
  3. Ensure materials are correctly stored, organized, and labeled per regulatory guidelines and safety standards.
  4. Review and ensure the accuracy of documentation, including purchase orders, shipping/receiving records, and regulatory compliance forms.
  5. Ensure all warehouse procedures align with internal SOPs and regulatory standards to prevent cross contamination or mishandling of materials.

Inventory Management & Control:

  1. Oversee the accurate tracking of inventory levels, ensuring products are rotated according to FEFO (First Expired, First Out).
  2. Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or overages to the Warehouse Supervisor or General Manager.
  3. Assist the WH Supervisor in developing strategies to optimize inventory flow and minimize excess stock or stockouts.

Shipping & Receiving:

  1. Supervise and assist in the timely and accurate receiving of raw materials and packaging components, ensuring proper inspection and documentation.
  2. Oversee the shipping process for finished goods to ensure accurate and on-time deliveries.
  3. Ensure products are properly labeled, packaged, and stored before shipment, following all regulatory labeling requirements.
  4. Troubleshoot any shipping or receiving discrepancies and take corrective actions.

Safety & Housekeeping:

  1. Promote a clean, safe, and compliant warehouse environment, ensuring that health and safety protocols are strictly followed.
  2. Work with the WH Supervisor and conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to promote awareness of warehouse safety practices.
  3. Ensure all warehouse staff adhere to PPE requirements and other safety measures.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct reports but serves in a Lead and supervisory capacity.

Competencies

  1. Strong understanding of GMP and regulatory compliance (FDA, USDA).
  2. Forklift operation and maintenance experience.
  3. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  4. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Proficiency in warehouse management software and inventory systems.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required); education in logistics, or a related field is a plus.
  2. At least 3 years of experience in warehouse operations, preferably in a regulated environment such as FDA or USDA.
  3. Minimum 1 year of experience in a lead or supervisory role.

Preferred Education & Experience

  1. Prior experience with inventory management systems, warehouse management software (WMS), or ERP systems is preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role is performed in a manufacturing setting, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, varying noise levels including loud machinery, and dust or other airborne particles. Employees are required to wear appropriate PPE as needed. The physical demands include prolonged standing and walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent bending, reaching, and manual dexterity. Work may be performed near moving machinery and under hazardous conditions.

Specific vision abilities required: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus. The role requires stamina and high accuracy in a fast-paced environment and adherence to GMP standards.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position during regular business hours. Hours will vary based on training, coverage, and production schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. No travel required.
