Pride Health is hiring: Phlebotomist in Bridgeport

Pride Health is hiring a phlebotomist to support our client's medical facility in Bridgeport, CT. This is a 3+ month contract with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity.

Overview

Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Bridgeport, CT 06606

Pay Rate: $18 - $21 / hr. on W2.
Shift: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday - 9:00 am to 7:00 pm; Tuesday – 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; Friday – 8:00 am to 1:00 pm

Duration: 3 months

• Pay rate is based on experience and educational qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens from patients of all ages.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety during the collection process.
• Accurately label specimens and complete requisition forms.
• Adhere to standardized procedures for waived testing, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of results.
• Properly handle and store specimens to maintain sample integrity.
• Follow protocols for specimen transport and disposal.
• Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) as directed by healthcare providers.
• Apply electrodes and monitor patients during the procedure to ensure quality tracings.
• Prepare and verify manifests for specimens being sent to external laboratories or for transportation purposes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a phlebotomist required.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Superior customer focus with strong communication skills and adaptability.
