What You Will Do
As a Phlebotomist, you will demonstrate confidence and skill in the application and management of venipuncture in a highly specialized, complex collection environment.

The Opportunity

  • Reviews laboratory schedule: resolves or verifies orders as complete in the electronic medical record
  • Identifies patient and records by name/date of birth correctly
  • Explains process and reassures patient and/or family members
  • Performs venipuncture/finger sticks as per order
  • Captures and reports important medical data to nurse/provider
  • Responds quickly to syncopal episodes; notifies nurse/provider
  • Processes, packages, and stores specimens for courier pick-up or mailing
  • Orders and maintains adequate laboratory supplies
  • Maintains a clean, organized environment demonstrating a commitment to infection/exposure control and quality assurance
  • Terminally cleans lab at close of business

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience
  • Knowledge of best practice guidelines and well-practiced in the safe handling of technical devices for procuring blood/urine specimens and capillary puncture
  • Valid Indiana Driver's license and automobile insurance
  • All IHI employees are expected to enable multi-factor authentication via their personal smart phone/smart device to access IHI systems as a role requirement
