Overview
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at a large medical center office. The ideal candidate will perform between 30 to 60 blood draws daily, primarily in a pediatric setting. This role requires standing for most of the shift and involves collaborating with a dedicated team. The first week will be dedicated to training and orientation.

Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens as required.
- Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment as necessary.
- Update patient information and ensure specimens are collected and stored according to established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
- Demonstrate proper technique using straight and butterfly needles.
- Understand and follow all physicians\' orders accurately.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
- Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to inquiries.
Essential Skills
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.
- Minimum of 6 months\' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 5-7 years of experience in phlebotomy.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with pediatric phlebotomy, with at least 2+ years in pediatric blood draws.
- Strong skills in specimen collection and processing.
Work Environment
The work environment is a large medical center office, where you will be part of a team. The role requires standing for most of the shift and involves working in a pediatric setting. The dress code is professional medical attire.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Austin, Texas.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
