Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents our company to patients who come in, either as part of their health routine or for insights into health decisions. The PSR II draws blood samples from patients and prepares these for lab testing, following established procedures. They have direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence, explaining procedures, and drawing blood skillfully, safely, and accurately. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence and confidentiality. Assignments may vary between doctor's offices, patient service centers, or other locations based on business needs.
Under the supervision of the area manager, perform daily activities accurately and on time, maintaining a safe and professional environment.
Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties confidently, following established practices.
Verify patient demographic info, initials, and signatures post-venipuncture to ensure proper labeling and identification.
Maintain required records and documentation.
Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Job Requirements
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Flexible and available to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Adherence to all policies, including dress code, safety, and company principles.
- Ability to make decisions based on procedures and exercise good judgment.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
- Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations with short notice.
- Capability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Superior customer focus and effective communication skills.
Training locations may vary based on availability.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. Experience in a Patient Service Center preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred.
