Overview

Location: Hinsdale. Travel required.

Hours: Monday–Friday; must be willing to work variable 8 hour shifts between 7:00am–6:00pm. Every other Saturday required: 7:00am–1:00pm. Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Director, Manager or Supervisor, perform laboratory procedures in phlebotomy and other specimen collections, specimen processing, and related general duties as necessary, under the direction of a licensed laboratory supervisor.
  • Present a professional, courteous, and respectful demeanor when engaging with patients, co-workers, other staff, and the general public.
  • Travel to other practice sites may be required.
  • Perform phlebotomy on adult and pediatric patients by venipuncture or capillary collection using aseptic protocols, accurate patient identification, and proper labeling procedures.
  • Monitor phone and voicemail messages as necessary.
  • Monitor collection supply inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Receive patients professionally and courteously using AIDET and positive patient experience tools.
  • Perform specimen centrifugation, processing, preparation for reference lab transportation, storage, and retrieval.
  • Utilize computer skills to access patient/testing information as necessary; prepare paperwork to accompany specimens.
  • Maintain a clean patient and working environment; perform other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • National phlebotomy certification or eligible to sit for certification exam preferred.
  • Prior experience as a phlebotomist or an equivalent combination of graduation from a certified phlebotomy school with healthcare work experience preferred.
  • Moderate knowledge of medical terminology; excellent verbal and written communication skills preferred.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Base pay: $17.65–$26.50 per hour, with actual pay determined by skills, experience, education, certifications, location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives; base pay is part of total rewards.
