Job Description
A busy, regional clinical laboratory is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join its patient service center team in Narragansett, RI. This role offers a high level of independence and requires strong technical ability in blood collection and patient interaction. The phlebotomist will work directly with patients throughout the day, performing venipuncture procedures and handling specimens according to established safety and identification protocols.
This is a medium-volume site typically staffed by two phlebotomists. The current opening will fill the second position on the team.

Job Description

Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary collections on patients of all ages
- Accurately label, document, and process specimens in accordance with lab standards
- Utilize proper patient identification methods prior to specimen collection
- Prepare specimens for transport and testing following safety guidelines
- Maintain clean and sterile work areas and equipment
- Input specimen data into electronic systems accurately and efficiently
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients and staff
- Work independently and manage workflow with minimal supervision
- Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical or lab setting
- Comfortable performing high-volume blood draws independently
- Experience working with patients across all age groups
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and safety protocols
- Ability to follow lab procedures and documentation standards
- Phlebotomy certification not required - Medical Assistants with high-volume phlebotomy experience are welcome to apply
