Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description
The Phlebotomist I is responsible for performing daily phlebotomy activities within the Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-office Phlebotomy (IOP) settings, ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and on time. This role involves interacting with clients, patients, and colleagues professionally and courteously while adhering to established practices and procedures for forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing.
Responsibilities

Greet customers and treat them courteously.

Collect field phlebotomy and PSC specimens accurately and on time.

Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.

Reduce patient anxiety by providing a calm environment during the collection process.

Dispose of biohazard fluids or tissues and contaminated sharps in accordance with laws and policies.

Complete requisitions accurately and enter patient, specimen, and billing information into the computer.

Communicate with clients to confirm orders and verify test details.

Research test and client information using lab computer systems.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.

Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.

Demonstrate proficiency in specimen collection and processing methods.

Maintain required records, documentation, and daily logs.

Assist with compiling monthly statistics and data.

Perform basic clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and preparing mail.

Approve time in attendance software and submit accurate expense and travel logs.

Adhere to grooming, dress code, and lab coat policies.

Maintain a harmonious working environment by communicating effectively.

Answer telephones in a friendly, helpful manner.

Perform duties independently and communicate issues to supervisors for resolution.

Contribute to a positive work environment and team effort.

Ensure facilities are neat and clean, reporting maintenance needs as necessary.

Assist with inventory counts and report shortages to supervisors.

Utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for safety.

Perform responsibilities in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory guidelines to protect sensitive information.

Work Environment
The role is based in a physician's office, requiring adherence to a professional dress code, including lab coats. The environment is supportive and requires the utilization of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure safety.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of McKinney, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
