Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital

The smallest of Duke Health's four hospitals at 123 beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.
Summary
Performs venipunctures, heel sticks, and finger sticks to obtain blood samples for testing purposes. Properly identifies patients and follows procedures for collection of specimens. Ensures that all information from the blood collection of specimens is entered into the laboratory computer system, including time drawn, time received, and proper collector's initials. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens for pre-employment, post-accident, and just cause cases using proper collection procedures as set forth by NIDA. Performs duties at the laboratory front desk, answering phones and performing clerical duties. Performs other related functions as assigned by the MT/MLT on duty or the Laboratory Administrative Director.

Education
Completion of a formal training course in phlebotomy procedures from an accredited school or training program is preferred.
Experience
One year of phlebotomy experience is preferred.
